Spring 2012, a rumor: Whole Foods is coming to the old Kroger location in Wakefield. The town was abuzz! After Whole Foods verified that they had no intention of opening “another North Raleigh location,” a group of foodies met that August at Wake Forest Coffee Company to determine if a community cooperative grocery store was a viable solution to the lack of quality, affordable grocery shopping in Wake Forest.

In 2016, the co-op suffered a major setback when Mapleview Dairy’s bottling facility burned. A key revenue source for the organization was lost overnight, putting us in a precarious situation. Since then, the co-op has focused on it’s niche market; providing customers and members with an economical location for high quality dry goods by the case, at the best possible price.
